Valentine’s Day
Hollywood's stab at a Love Actually remake. Even the star cast can't make this crappy script work.

Shrink
The scenes with Spacey are fascinating, he's a remarkable actor. The rest of the movie is not worth the bother. The Hollywood setting is uninteresting, the Crash mood that they try to recreate with the (beautiful, by the way) soundtrack and the blue filter on the camera doesn't pay off. The ending is rushed, uninspired and implausible.

Public Enemies
Two hours of tangible desperation for both gangsters and FBI. Gripping story, with compelling performances by Depp, Bale and Cotillard. Half an hour too long though.

My One and Only
Youth memories of actor George Hamilton, a story that didn't need to be told. Boring.

Love Happens
Unconventional romantic drama that is intelligent, empathic and modest. Good performances from Eckhart, Aniston and Lynch.

Leap Year
Soulless and sloppy romcom with flat performances by Adams and Goode (with a terrible Irish accent), that preys on all the cliches the writers could think of about Ireland. No wonder some Americans think Europe is one big developing country. The scenery is beautiful of course, it is Ireland after all, but has not been used to its full potential in the movie.

The Edge of Love
Complex poetic love story that bounces between tender and grim, and is supported by beautiful cinematography, a modest soundtrack and strong performances by Knightley, Miller, Rhys and Murphy. Runs a bit slow though, they should have shaved off 20 minutes.
